Second Wind is about second chances. It’s about the opportunities we all have to transform, to take something that is weathered and worn and work with it to reveal its hidden beauty and potential. Nature is Daniel’s studio. “I am most inspired when paddling Muskoka’s lakes and rivers. Driftwood has always spoken to me with is naturally eroded lines and organic textures that showcase Mother Nature’s work through time,” explains Daniel. “With each discovery, I’m curious to know its story.” Since 2014, Daniel has been transforming the driftwood he has discovered into decorative sailboat sculptures. This exhibition will feature some of Daniel’s more surreal creations. Second Wind is more about sailing through life than sailing through water. As in sailing through life, some vessels have weathered the storms better than others; but no matter how damaged one is, all have the potential to find their second wind.
Second Wind opens with a public reception on Saturday, June 10 from 1pm until 4pm.
The Chapel Gallery, is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-1pm and 2pm-5pm. It is located at 15 King Street in Bracebridge.
