The first signing event takes place on Sunday, August 11, from 11 am to 1 pm, with Cindy Watson (Out of Darkness: The Jeff Healey Story and Unloved & Endangered Animals), Wendy Truscott (Haunted Journey) and Wendie Donabie (This Little Rock We Call Earth and Sea Words).
Out of Darkness is the up-close and personal story of Canadian Musician, Jeff Healey. The book is loaded with never-before-seen photographs, memorabilia, and intimate recollections of family, friends, and fellow musicians. You’ll learn about this unique music icon’s dynamic career, which saw him collaborate with everyone from George Harrison and Eric Clapton to B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. In Unloved & Endangered Animals, Watson explains what is special about many of the least understood endangered species of animals, how they are threatened, and what readers can do to help them live and thrive. Truscott’s novel, Haunted Journey, set in 1879 is the story of Caleb Lawson, two years after he's run away from his family's Muskoka home. Caleb is haunted by dreams of his younger sisters in distress. These dreams lead him on a journey home, where he desperately hopes he'll be welcome. Donabie’s, This Little Rock We Call Earth is a coffee table book containing photos of many of the artist’s paintings along with text that addresses our relationship with the planet and interdependence on all wildlife. Sea Words is a small collection of poetic reflections about the ocean and Donabie’s love of the sea.
Then on Saturday, August 17, from 11 am to 1 pm, Peter Jennings (Shark Assault: An Amazing Story of Survival and Why Being Happy Matters), Yvonne Heath (Love Your Life to Death) and Denise Marcelli (Journey of Survival) will be at the store for signings.
Jenning’s Shark Assault details the story of a brutal shark attack that cost Ontario Nurse, Nicole Moore, her arm and much of her leg, and her death-defying recovery. In his second book, Why Being Happy Matters, readers are introduced to people in U.S.A, Canada, Asia, Australia and Europe who reveal what happiness means to them and why it's important. You'll also meet international Ph.Ds. studying positive psychology. Through heartfelt stories of those who have been deeply impacted by loss and found happiness again, and interviews of professionals who deal with grief, death and dying, Heath’s Love Your Life To Death will help you gain insight about your own life experience. It will make you laugh; it will make you cry but most importantly, it may give you a new perspective on life and death. Denise Marcelli’s Journey of Survival is a deeply personal, biographical account of a childhood and adolescence fraught with instability and insecurity. It’s about decisions made that would impact Marcelli well into her adult life and it’s about never giving up and being liberated from emotional pain.
On Saturday, August 24, from 11 am to 1 pm, you can meet Dee Lloyd (Award winning Romantic Suspense), Angela Jackson (Celebrate Life and Celebrating Anger-Creative Solutions for Managing Conflict), and David Franks (30 Days in Atawapiskat and D-Tales).
Dee Lloyd has seven published Romantic Suspense/Mystery novels all of which have earned five-star reviews, and either been finalists in or won international published author contests. Written in a lively and intimate style, Jackson’s Celebrate Life! invites the reader on a journey of discovery, offering stories, solutions and inspiration for those searching for a better way to live. Angela’s first book in the celebration series is the Canadian best seller Celebrating Anger – Creative Solutions for Managing Conflict at home, on the job, in relationships. It’s an easy read on how to manage anger and deal with conflict at home and at work. When it comes to Native culture these are the observations and impressions of David Franks, a once proud yet blissfully ignorant Canadian writer, who spent a month on the fly-in First Nation reserve of Attawapiskat. His experiences there not only opened his eyes to an ancient culture but changed his perspective of Canada and what it means to be a Canadian. Half the net profits from sales of this e-book will be used to design and build a community greenhouse in Attawapiskat.
